Bringing kids up these days is hard, we want to protect and nurture them and also to give them the confidence to steps forwards in the world, be who they want to be, and to have the inner strength to deal with whatever life throws at them.
We also have to make decisions regarding when to loosen the reigns and allow our kids freedom to roam and explore.
One recent conversation around the dinner table, “I’d love to let the kids walk to school but I’m afriad of what the other parents might think of me”. Sometimes we need to let go a little to let them grow.
So, when it comes to camping in the woods, or kayaking down the river. In our experience young people are very good at judging risk, by all means questions the plan, then question yourself regarding the right decision to make.
